A mother refuses to take her daughter with basketball-size tumor to the hospital. Instead of earthly doctors, she relies solely on an invisible ghost called the Holy Spirit to cure her daughter. Mysteriously, the daughter dies. Entreaties to the Lord to resurrect the girl from her open casket during the funeral are ignored by an otherwise preoccupied Lord Jesus, much to the disappointment of eager onlookers, who, no doubt, then resort to the less sensationalistic entertainment of hissing snakes. |

Jerry Falwell, a vociferous supporter of George W. Bush and his war, claims that the Islamic prophet Muhammad was a terrorist because he "was a violent man, a man of war." In doing so, Mr. Falwell is forgetting both God and Jesus. By supporting George W. Bush's war, Jerry is conveniently ignoring Jesus' admonition to turn the other cheek in the face of evil doers. In impugning Muhammad, Mr. Falwell appears to be forgetting that Muhammad, in being so bellicose, would have been faithfully replicating that bloodthirsty saber rattling of the very God that Mr. Falwell purports to also emulate. Anyone who reads beyond the entertaining stories of talking snakes and subleased studio apartments in whales in the pages of the Old Testament, knows that the Lord was rather fond of slaughtering anyone who didn't happen to be Jewish. Just ask all the first-born babies in Egypt. Verily, I say onto thee if the Lord's charming wishes for women and children wouldn't make the average flight crew on Delta shiver, I don't know what would. Imagine someone running down the aisle screaming this: "The people of America must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open." Hosea 13:16 |
